COLD SHOWER ANYONE

The first day or two of May, our house was hit by lightning, of course right as we were feeding Noah and getting him ready for bed. It sounded like a bomb went off in our house. It was so surreal and scary. It definitely rattled all of us. Thankfully, our house did not catch on fire or explode (I'll explain soon). We had a nice-size hole in our roof. We called the fire department to check for any hot spots in the walls. There were none, and the firemen put a tarp over the hole.

We called our adjuster, and he had a roofer come out and fix our roof the next morning. We only had minor damage in the house. The roofers didn't seem to do a good job, and we were a little concerned. We asked them what company they work for and they couldn't tell us - they acted as if they couldn't understand us.

Fast forward a few weeks to this past Sunday morning. Our house has an odor, so we decide to call the gas company. The gas representative says it's not gas, but checks the house anyway. Sure enough, there's a gas leak in the hot water heater and the main line. Thankfully our house mostly runs on electricity.

The reason I'm telling you about the gas in regards to the lightning strike is because we found out from an electrician how the lightning went through the house: hit the roof, to the hvac unit in the attic, through our gas line and out our hot water heater. Ah yeah!

Really long story short, this is where we stand. We have no hot water, our adjuster won't ever call us back, the "fixed" roof is shoddy work and a structural beam in the attic has a chunk taken out of it from the lightning that the roofers never saw.

Anyhoo, like I said, I'm glad our house didn't explode or catch on fire, but darn it, a hot shower would be nice.

It's a good thing you have sources of Insurance personnel within the family, as well as legal background. That's what families are for! Look at it this way, that rainbow is the positive attitude you need to have, now follow through with all these resources till you're completely satisfied.
